Bioinformatics in Proteomics

SPEAK TO A SCIENTIST

Introduction to Proteomics

Proteomics is the science of studying the composition, location, change and interaction rules of proteins in cells, tissues or organisms, including the study of protein expression patterns and proteomic functional patterns. Researching and analyzing the proteomics data of different diseased individuals, specific phenotypes and normal samples is of great significance for finding diagnostic markers of diseases, screening drug targets, and toxicological research. Therefore, according to different research purposes, different proteomics research techniques are widely used in medical research. With many years of experience in proteomics data analysis, CD Genomics provides customers with bioinformatics data analysis services for different proteomics data. The services we provide include but are not limited to the following: iTRAQ proteomic quantitative data analysis, TMT labeled quantitative proteomic analysis, label free proteomic quantitative analysis, phosphorylated proteomic analysis, and DIA protein quantitative and detection data analysis.

Significance of Proteomics Data Analysis

Proteome research can not only provide a material basis for the laws of life activities, but also provide a theoretical basis and solutions for the elucidation and conquering of many kinds of disease mechanisms. By comparing and analyzing the proteomes between normal individuals and pathological individuals, it is possible to obtain the expression of different proteins in different samples, find differentially expressed proteins, and then perform functional annotation analysis on the differentially expressed proteins. Through data mining, certain disease-specific protein molecules can be found, which can become molecular targets for new drug design or provide molecular markers for early diagnosis of diseases. For example, many drugs on the market are proteins or their targets are certain protein molecules. Therefore, proteomics research is not only a necessary work to explore the mysteries of life, but also can bring huge benefits to human health.

Applications of Proteomics Data in Biomedical Research

  • Basic research: Proteomics data analysis can provide a data basis for disease mechanism and drug target screening.
  • Research on disease markers: Exploring relevant diagnostic markers and prognostic markers by analyzing the proteomics data of tissue samples from different diseases.
  • Personalized diagnosis or treatment: Analysis of different sample tissues is helpful for diagnosis and classification, as well as individualized treatment.
